Driveways, Patios & Paving
in Stillorgan
We rebuilt this Stillorgan back garden from the ground: two levels of cream porcelain off the back door, a long step between them, gravel borders and new planting. Driveways, patios and paving in Stillorgan, with a free site visit, a written price and a 10-year written guarantee.
Two levels of porcelain, one Stillorgan garden.

The Stillorgan job started with the ground, not the stone. The old slabs and the gravel around them were lifted, and the ground was dug out and graded to a firm base, with the falls set so rainwater runs away from the house rather than towards the back door. Large-format porcelain was then laid on a full bound bed to tight, even joints, on two levels with a long step between them, and checked off a level as it went down. Gravel borders and new planting finish the edges, so the patio sits in the garden instead of on top of it.
“At the planning stage, James listened to our wish list, offered helpful suggestions and we came to an agreed design quickly.” A customer's Google review of our work.
The garden is on two levels, so the patio is too: an upper level flush with the glazed back door, and a lower level a long step down that meets the gravel and the planted bed. Both are the same cream porcelain, so it reads as one patio rather than two. If your Stillorgan garden still has the original slabs, holds water at the back door or has lost its shape, that is what we look at on the site visit. Our own crew and machines do the work, with Kilsaran and Roadstone materials and a 10-year written guarantee.
- Porcelain and natural stone patios in Stillorgan, laid on a full bound bed with the falls set, the way the Stillorgan patio on this page was.
- Gravel, tarmac and natural stone driveways, dug out to firm ground and rebuilt on a compacted base, with a granite cobble or sett edge set on concrete.
- Garden clearance, drainage, gravel borders, new lawns and planting through our landscaping service, so the whole garden is finished and not only the paving.
- A free site visit, then one written price for the whole job, with nothing added on afterwards.

Stillorgan questions.
The questions Stillorgan homeowners ask before they ask for a price.
Yes. The porcelain patio on this page is a Stillorgan garden, and Blackrock, Foxrock and Sandyford beside it are part of the same South Dublin patch our family has worked for over 40 years. Free quotations, 7 days a week.
Porcelain is what we laid in Stillorgan: large-format tiles, a flat surface that holds off moss and stains better than the old concrete slabs it usually replaces, and a clean look at the back door. Limestone and sandstone have more colour in them and age into a garden. Both go down on a full bound bed. Our guide to porcelain or natural stone goes through the choice, and we bring samples to the site visit.
Yes, and it is where the job starts. On the Stillorgan patio the ground was graded to a firm base with the falls set to carry water clear of the house before any porcelain was laid, and a drainage channel or gully goes in where the site needs one. A patio that holds water at the back door has been laid wrong, whatever the stone cost.
It depends on the size, how much of the old garden has to be dug out and carted away, the stone you choose, and whether steps, borders or planting are part of the job. We give a free site visit and a written quotation rather than a guess. Our guide to what a patio costs sets out what moves the price.
Yes. We lay gravel, tarmac and natural stone driveways across South Dublin, and the front of a Stillorgan semi is built the same way as the patio: dug out to firm ground, a compacted base, the edge set on concrete, then the finish. Our driveways page shows the finishes, and the projects page has driveways we have finished in Blackrock, Foxrock and Sandyford.
